This programme helps to prepare students aged 13-18 for a future that they don’t yet know, equipping young people with the skills needed to succeed and allowing them to reach their potential, not only at school but in the next stage of their personal development and their future professional life. Focusing on confidence building and problem solving, it will help students to address important choices at school, university and life beyond.
By immersing young people in high challenge situations through the use of our mentally and physically adventurous activities, we replicate exposure to stress and pressure in a controlled, nurturing and supportive environment. Specially trained staff use a blend of Mental Toughness coaching, reflection sessions and lots of fun but challenging activities, to encourage self-awareness and learn the skills needed to become more resilient.
Encouraging students to visualise success, control anxiety and perform under pressure, means that the skills learned during the programme can be powerfully transferred back into everyday life, improving self-awareness and resilience.
Psychometric questionnaire and coaching reports
This programme utilises the MTQ48 questionnaire, which was developed by AQR at Manchester Metropolitan University. It will be given to your students to assess their level of Mental Toughness at the beginning and end of their residential.
This allows the impact of the trip to be measured and the skills learned and achievements made during the programme to be powerfully transferred back into everyday life, improving self-awareness and resilience.
I can manage my emotions and my response to others
Ill do what it takes to keep my promises and achieve my goals
Learning from experience
Ill have a go. Even setbacks are opportunities for learning
I believe I have the ability to do it - or can acquire the ability
If you’d like to, you can combine your programme with your choice of learning outcomes to maximise the impact for your pupils. The learning outcomes which naturally sit within this programme are:
Demonstrate self-confidence in themselves and show trust and support for others.
Be able to demonstrate resilience through exposure to failures and overcoming difficult challenges.
Achieve goals, adapt positively to change and see setbacks as opportunities to learn.
We donate £1 for every young person that completes this adventure to our partner charity, YoungMinds.
YoungMinds champion children and young people’s mental health and well-being across the UK. It’s their mission to improve the emotional resilience of all children, ensure that those who suffer get fast and effective support, and build a society where mental health has no attached stigma.
