Welcome to Kingswood. As one of the leading providers of residential trips, we support teachers in bringing learning to life. As holders of the ‘Learning Outside the Classroom’ Quality Badge, we aim to instil self-confidence and a sense of achievement, through a positive experience which is educational, enjoyable, challenging and rewarding.
Kingswood was founded three decades ago by the Wiley family. After spending the summer in the US and sending their children to summer camp, on their return to the UK they found there was nothing similar to entertain their children during the school holidays, so they founded Camp Beaumont. When a teacher asked to attend camp during the school term time, our original centre in Staffordshire - in the village of Kingswood - was founded, and the rest as they say, is history!Read our latest news
We have 10 fun and exciting centres across the UK and France, providing unbeatable learning experiences outside the classroom. Each centre is unique and offers slightly different educational opportunities. Our locations range from Areas of Outstanding Natural beauty to Sites of Special Scientific Interest.
Visiting an established organisation like Kingswood ensures you have peace of mind that the safety of our guests and staff is our priority. Over the last 30 years we have ensured that robust and reliable Health & Safety policies, systems and procedures have been developed and implemented. We are founding members of the British Activity Providers Association (BAPA) and are accredited by other agencies such as the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA), Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL), Adventuremark and the Council for the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge.Read our policies
We believe in the value and benefits of learning outside the classroom for all. This is why we work hard to provide high quality courses with affordable options to suit every school and group. We offer a selection of visit durations, such as day trips and weekends, as well as our memorable week long trips. Schools travelling off-peak, during less popular winter months can expect great value rates on all our programmes, an affordable alternative to a high season visit.View our latest offers
Our skilled team of staff play a large part in the success of our centres. They support and encourage young people to make personal achievements that, for many, will reach beyond their wildest dreams, sending their confidence soaring. All staff are vetted, inducted and trained to the highest levels and have achieved National Governing Body qualifications (where available) for the activities that they teach.
At Kingswood, we know that the outdoor education opportunities we provide at our centres improve young peoples' development in all five areas of the 'Every Child Matters' outcomes. Introduced to complement the LOtC Manifesto, this new approach by the Government is aimed at helping children achieve their goals in life. At Kingswood, children can get into the outdoors, learning about healthy lifestyles and active minds. Students learn how to take risks in a safe and secure environment at Kingswood centres. Young people learn through having fun, with engaging and inspiring challenges, learning more about themselves and their classmates.
Students learn to work as a team, demonstrating support, tolerance and encouragement for others. Time away from home inspires confidence and independence; and key life skills development includes decision making, leadership, initiative and problem solving. The experience equips children with valuable social skills for their future, broadening their horizons to the opportunities available and non-academic ways of learning; increasing their appetite for learning and in turn, raising standards of attainment.
