Our team of instructors is drawn from all over the world and is made up of dedicated and professional activity, ICT & environmental enthusiasts. It is their commitment and dedication that make many of our young visitors’ stay with us so very special.
Many of our experienced instructors are experts in their chosen field and are trained to meet all audits (internal and external) in health & safety, first aid and soft skills. Additionally, each centre is run by an experienced and highly qualified Centre Manager, who lives on site.
Kingswood invests heavily in its staff recruitment and training procedures and complies with the recommendations of the Activities Centre Advisory Committee (ACAC) Code of Practice.
New Instructors are recruited via a rigorous induction procedure, which takes place three times a year. All our staff are checked through the Criminal Record Bureau and all references are followed up.
The Kingswood team is made up of enthusiastic and dedicated individuals who are completing a one-year Modern Apprenticeship. They all receive specific National Governing Body awards within their specific specialities, whether that be climbing, fencing or archery and this is complemented by specific key skill development in areas such as first aid and life saving.
All instructors complete pastoral care, child protection and welfare training and this is combined with achieving attainment levels in areas that vary from ICT through to environmental studies. They are also continuously assessed in their compliance with Kingswood health & safety procedures.
Senior instructors lead our activity teams and manage the delivery of all our programmes. They work closely alongside Party Leaders to ensure that your visit runs smoothly and all your needs are met. All Senior instructors receive ongoing development in higher level delivery as well as Lifeskills training and City & Guild 7307 accreditation.
Where an adventurous activity is regulated by a National Governing Body (NGB), all staff instructing that activity either hold the relevant NGB qualification or have been assessed by technically qualified specialists.
For all other activities, instructors are trained and assessed by similarly technically qualified specialists. Where appropriate, these specialist qualifications conform to the Technical Expert / Adviser requirements of the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA).
