Kingswood | Educational Activity Centres

The Kingswood experience comes to your School!

Kingswood is officially approved by ASDAN (Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network) to deliver the ASDAN - Kingswood Residential Activity Award (AKRAA) to students in years 10 & 11. ASDAN is a national awarding body approved by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA).

Kingswood provides all the facilities and support to enable students to achieve the AKRAA and this course is specifically designed to combine Kingswood’s adventure activities with learning and awareness. All aspects of Health and Safety, Risk Assessments and the running of a Young Persons’ Residential Centre are fully covered together with the upkeep of their AKRAA electronic log in one of our many Kingswood computer labs.

The activities that the students will undertake during their visit are both exciting and challenging and each Kingswood session forms an integral part of the planned AKRAA programme enabling the students to gain the maximum benefits in terms of personal development.

The ASDAN Residential Activity Award

This record of progress, together with appropriate supporting evidence, will lead to The Residential Activity Award which will count as part credit towards ASDAN's Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (CoPE), a GCSE equivalent qualification at either CoPE level 1 or level 2, which students can complete subsequently in their schools. CoPE level 2 is equivalent to a GCSE Grade B.

Students are encouraged to reflect on the skills and attributes they have developed at Kingswood. The AKRAA certificate will be presented to each student at the successful completion of the course.

"We pride ourselves on being able to acknowledge, celebrate and certify the achievement of young people across a broad range of contexts, and this Residential Activity Award provides a superb opportunity to formally recognise the Kingswood experience."

— Roger White, Chief Executive, ASDAN
