Mission Critical
Design your own interactive computer game...
Learn time: 4 x 70 minute sesssions
Develop from a concept first explored at Oxford University, Mission Critical brings control technology and object-oriented programming together in a stimulating, unique way. Students are immersed in creating their very own commercial quality multi-platform computer game. Starting with a base map, pupils build a series of doors and rooms, designing the worlds in which their characters will interact with others to attempt to complete their secret mission.
Science Detective
Solve the crime of the missing million pound fortune...
Learn time: 3 x 70 minute sessions.
A million pound fortune is missing and it's down to you to race against the clock to track down its whereabouts. No crime can ever really be proved without essential evidence, so faced with a set of clues students need to use all their detective skills to succeed. They will need to decipher codes & discover the exact coordinates of the fortune on GPS locators. Once at the scene, a metal detector needs to be constructed to locate the money & UV light technology utilised to solve the crime.
Media Stage
Direct a whole cast to produce your own show...
Learn time: 3 x 70 minute sessions.
All in the click of a mouse, students learn to create their own movie or screen play and piece together all the vital contributing elements. First, the scripts are written and storyboards created for each scene, maybe a tense newsroom or a bustling street scene. Then it's time to become set designers, set the lighting and choose the props. Filiming commences, with students voicing their own stars of the show, to create some of the most lifelike animation characters around.
Consequences
Witness the effects of your life decisions...
Learn time: 3 x 70 minute sessions
Focusing on key areas of PSHE & Citizenship, students become characters in a full motion movie. 'Consequences' engages young people in major issues, challenging them to evaulate the decisions they make in various scenarios, allowing them to both experiment and witness the effect of their actions. Situations range from Alcohol, Drug Abuse & Relationships; Bias & Hate Prevention; Violence Prevention; Leadership, Ethics, Respect & Teamwork.
Art Beat
Paint your own musical symphony...
Learn time: 3 x 70 minute sessions
Art Beat perfectly combines art and classical music appreciation. Studying texture, light and mood of world famous art pieces, students are tasked to create their own musical masterpiece to accompany their favourite art piece. Remarkable software, exclusive to Kingswood, interprets lines and strokes in an intuitive way, mapping them to structural elements in the music, so that pupils can literally draw their own new classical music symphony visually.
Planet Ocean
Explore environmental protection & carbon footprints...
Learn time: 3 x 70 minute sessions
Stop! The World is under threat and your team have just 140 minutes to save the planet. A fun double session that introduces all students to the very real risks of climate change and what they can do to help. Teams work outdoors to find clues and make critical decisions to reduce environmental damage and pollution. They will also have to manage their own carbon footprint in completing the task. This is a fast-paced activity that reinforces important topical themes in a fun and informative way.

|
Lifeskills
A key stepping stone for developing building block skills...
Learn time: 1 day session
Combining exploratory group exercises with hands-on learning in our adventure activities, participants develop essential skills in education, such as personal organisation, communication, goal-setting and problem solving which are difficult to consider in a classroom setting. See students go from strength to strength without them even realising they're learning. Whether this is after they've just perfectly demonstrated leadership, teamworking or negotiation when they lead their group in TASK, or maybe they tested their critical thinking and self-confidence in the Problem Solving exercise or gained the respect of their classmates by reaching the top of the Climbing wall first. Whichever combination of skills students walk away with, they will all, no doubt, have a clearer understanding of themselves and their potential.
