Kingswood believes that environmental and Geography studies provide young children with many real contexts in which to develop and use a variety of learning skills that are important across the curriculum. Through the wider curriculum, geography can become more meaningful and relevant to children's lives and learning. Safari IT gives students the opportunity to develop children's skills in literacy, numeracy and ICT through their learning in geography. Learning through geography will make significant contributions to young children's roles as global citizens.
Safari I.T. is our introductory module in combining environmental fieldwork with ICT. Equipped with digital cameras, ID Keys and pooters or nets, pupils come face-to-face with nature. They take part in a hands-on investigation of nature focusing on invertebrates. On returning to the lab they use a PowerPoint display programme to create their very own interactive identification key that enables students to gain a clear understanding of classification and identification.
This Discovery module is calibrated according to ability so that children of all capabilities can work through and complete the course.
