Coastal protection is becoming one of the most important environmental issues of the new millennium. In this module students are presented with a scenario whereby they need millions of pounds in order to build a suitable sea-defence scheme to save their beautiful shoreline. Competing against other applicants, students undertake field work research into coastal protection measures, human influences, geology and climate effect before devising a multi-media presentation to convince "The Man from D.E.F.R.A" to invest in their future project.
The Man From D.E.F.R.A. is calibrated according to ability so that children of all capabilities can work through and complete the course.
