Kingswood: Totland Bay to Freshwater Bay study

(Half day study)

Just a short walk away from our Centre is one of the most interesting bays on the island. Whitecliff Bay has a rocky shore with chalk and limestone headlands marking its borders. The study takes in pebble analysis, using chalk pebbles to give good correlated results for longshore drift. A visual analysis of the geology may also be made, looking at the vertical, rather than the horizontal, layers of rock in the cliff face.

Fieldwork: Environmental quality index, pebble analysis, field sketches, beach profiles, sustainability questions.
