Kingswood: Isle of Wight Heathland Succession

(Full day or half day study)

Studying the succession on an area of heathland. Students use a number of data collection techniques, comparing the biotic and abiotic features to assess how small scale changes to the edaphic factors, terrain, moisture and temperature, have a significant effect on the species diversity of the heathland.

Fieldwork: Quadrat analysis (succession transect), footpath profiles, management comparison.
