Originally developed as a safe haven for wartime evacuees, Colomendy has become woven into the life of over 350,000 children who have visited the Centre over the years and enjoyed that unique "Colomendy experience".
Often referred to as the "Gateway to North Wales", Colomendy is situated in a magnificent setting in the heart of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The 130 acre site is just off the A55 Expressway and is surrounded by beautiful hills and woodlands. It provides an ideal safe and secure venue for school residentials.
Colomendy has recieved a multi-million pound redevelopment that has paved the way to it becoming one of the UK’s premier Educational Activity Centres. This includes a £1 million pound adventure park on the site with 3 huge climbing and abseiling towers, high and low rope activities, an adrenaline 3G swing, a tree-top aerial course and a monster 200 metre zipwire. Other top attractions in the park include a major simulated caving system built into a natural rock seam and a man-made watersports area alongside the River Alyn that runs through the Northern end of the site.
Acommodation for both teachers and students has all been refurbished with en suite bathroom facilities, and upgrades of existing buildings provide a new reception, restaurant area and Evening Entertainment Zones.
For Key stage 2 schools we have introduced our new Discovery Programme which consists of a choice of 12 themed modules designed to fire young imaginations and deliver stimulating learning within ICT, Science and Environmental Studies.
Our 3+ Programme for Key stage 3 & 4 students include popular courses such as Lifeskills, Transition & Motivation and an established favourite Adventure Choice.
Kingswood has an excellent reputation for our environmental programmes and new Geography, Biology and Field Study courses that take advantage of the rich local environment are available for GCSE and A Level students.
