Rivers

Students visit a number of sites and compare the change in physical parameters downstream/between different stretches of river. Fieldwork can include:

  • Measurements of width, depth, wetted perimeter

  • Measurements of gradient, flow velocity, float velocity

  • Measurements of bedload size and shape

Specific objectives and fieldwork will be tailored to individual specifications and school objectives, this includes planning, fieldwork and follow up sessions. We can also focus on river flooding if your individual need requires human geography.

If required, a specialist programme can be devised to meet your compulsory fieldwork and preparation for examinations. During a 3 night stay students can plan their physical and human topics following the stages of enquiry to provide them with a perfect revision tool before examinations. We can assist with cartographic and statistical skills needed using our GIS software.

Coastal processes and management

Students visit a number of sites to investigate the differing impact of physical processes and the measures taken to defend the coastline and/or establish the reasons for differing approaches to coastal management along a stretch of coastline. Fieldwork can include:
