Peace of Mind

The Kingswood Safety Policy has been written to secure compliance with both legislation and our general duty of care towards members of the public and our employees. In particular, regard has been made to the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and the regulations issued under it.

Account has also been taken of industry guidance and codes of practice where these are available. This policy is available for all visiting teachers on arrival at any of our centres and can be requested by parents, together with copies of our staff training and qualifications.

Risk Assessments

Safety is a priority, so every Kingswood Centre and activity is risk assessed and our sites are independently inspected, checked and maintained by the British Activity Holiday Association (BAHA) and also by Local Authority Environmental Health Officers. Copies of all of our risk assessments can be found here.

Staff that excel

Our skilled Instructor team play a large part in the success of our centres, supporting and encouraging young people to make personal achievements that, for many, will reach beyond their wildest dreams, sending their confidence soaring. All staff are vetted, inducted and trained to the highest levels and have achieved National Governing Body qualifications (where available) for the activities that they teach.

Off Site Safety

Off-site fieldwork excursions are supervised to the same standards as on-site activities and they are closely monitored and subjected to regular Risk Assessments, which can be found here. The work completed on these field trips is of a scientific and educational nature and is strictly controlled in locations that are well-known and regularly used by Kingswood staff.

Instructors carrying off-site sessions always carry with them a full safety pack containing first-aid kit, location maps, bivvy bags, extra clothes, throw lines and drinking water. A mobile phone is also included to enable the instructor to contact the centre or emergency services in the unlikely event of an incident occurring.

Kingswood has a commitment to improving its ability to work with special needs groups. We can cope with many needs as long as teachers make us aware of this at time of booking. Pupils with special needs who are used to taking part in activities with the rest of the class are given extra care and attention as soon as they are identified to us. To date, we have welcomed many children with special needs to Kingswood who have had the time of their lives with their class.
