Key Roman Link During your French School Tour, visit Boulogne, France's biggest fishing port. An important town and port since Roman Times, Medieval rulers built a castle on one corner of the Roman town wall & the Old Town expanded inside the confines. There is a picturesque walk around the ramparts, with views inside to the Old Town, and outwards to the new town centre and bustling port. The Medieval Castle now houses a museum, which is worth visiting, detailing the history and life of the town and its surrounding area. Nausicaa National Sea Experience Centre We also take groups into the Nausicaa National Sea Experience Centre, often voted as one of the highlights of our French School Tour. Students explore the aquariums and great interactive exhibits to find out about the marine environment - and man's
impact on it. T
his centre is a world first for raising awareness on the long-term management of ocean resources. Discover Hitler's Secret Weapon Following on from our other excursions to sites of interest from the two World Wars, groups have the opportunity to visit La Coupole, just outside Boulogne. During the Second World War, Hitler was building a gigantic underground bunker and the V2 Rocket Launching Base near Boulogne his secret weapon to destroy London and reverse the course of the war. The bomb-proof dome at the heart of the centre can be seen nestling in the side of a hill, with the visitors centre exhibiting Hitler's plans and the daily life of French people during the "dark years" - an enlightening experience.
