Gifted & Talented

Our Gifted & Talented courses are "real life" scenarios that involve students in group activities with teamwork and team building as core elements of a full key skills programme.

Kingswood’s range of courses for more able students recognise the varying needs within any specific group, our programmes are designed so that Gifted and Talented pupils learn at different speeds and also develop leadership, decision-making and organisational skills. "Gifted and Talented" students may demonstrate high academic, sporting or artistic ability, however gifted learners may have abilities in one or more academic subjects such as Maths and English, and talented learners may display abilities in sport, music, design or creative and performing arts.

For the last five years Kingswood has been working with the DfEs and regional initiatives as well as Gifted and Talented coordinators in supporting Gifted and Talented pupils, particularly in urban areas. A visit to Kingswood forms part of schools’ individual teaching and learning programmes and extra study support for their Gifted and Talented pupils.

Our Gifted & Talented courses are 'real life' scenarios that involve students in group activities with teamwork and team building as core elements of a full key skill programme. Our courses have been designed by education specialists in conjunction with the Excellence in Cities programme, and meet the criteria laid down by the DfES for developing gifted young people. The Lifeskills Academy combines personal development with teambuilding and key skill development.

Flash FX

asdf

Flash FX uses the latest animation techniques to stimulate young minds' imagination & creative flair. Students work in project teams, against the clock, to create a themed animation conveying a clear message to their intended audience. Using web cams and our special cast of models, students produce a story line, learn how to import their photos into Macromedia Flash and then focus on modifying the frame, relaying their message in a creative, entertaining and dramatic presentation with an overlay of background music created using Dance eJay. Flash FX is excellent for larger groups and should ideally be combined with some previsit course preparation.

Fair Trade - Fair Play

asdf

Fair Trade is a growing movement promoting a fair price for poorer communities for their goods (one that covers the cost of production and guarantees a living income) as well as support to gain the knowledge and skills that they need to develop their businesses and increase sales.

In this module, project teams strive to combine the ideals of fair trade with the realities of a fast paced and competitive market. Reinforcing and exploring a very important issue, teams are introduced to a stimulating and exciting project – can they really all be winners?
