Environmental Woodland Study

Study Time:

Half day fieldwork + optional 70 minute follow up session in ICT lab.

Learning Objective:

By the end of this module pupils will understand the concept of woodland habitat.

Overview:

An introduction to woodland study that introduces field study and field work techniques along with an understanding of modern environmental issues and their impact for the future. Can it get any worse? Swampy is in jail! Kings Wood is due to be torn down and the bulldozers are on the way! Environmental Project teams must get to the woods, study the facts, chart its physical features and investigate the intricacies of layering, plant structures & adaptation. Back in the ICT labs they have to work against the clock to prove the truth and produce their very own protest poster putting across their case to free the ecological warrior and save the day!

Evidence of Learning:

All pupils record their findings in a Discovery workbook and poster and all the ICT work is copied and returned to school.
