C.S.I. Kingswood

Science

Study Time:

3 x 70 minute sessions

Learning Objective:

By the end of this module pupils will know how to conduct a range of scientific tests which they can use as evidence to draw conclusions.

Overview:

Pupils take on the role of trainee Crime Scene Investigators; they are introduced and delve into the fascinating world of forensic science and criminology. First they visit the crime scene and discover that somebody has broken into the Kingswood safe and the vital computer key is missing. Pupils study statements taken from the suspects to hunt out the possible clues. Only by using the very latest scientific techniques will they be able to identify the culprit. Microscopes, staining slides, pH, soil grain analysis, fibre analysis, footprint casting and finger print dusting are all part of this non-stop crime busting module. Finally, the team presents their findings and, unlike Poirot, use PowerPoint and their ICT skills to present their case.
