Vimy Ridge
Key turning point for allied troops
The Battle of Vimy Ridge proved to be a turning point in WWI, with its goal to achieve the ever-elusive breakthrough in the German lines. The Canadian Corps were crucial in this attack, building a full-scale replica of the ground for their troops to practice on, and creating tunnel systems to move soldiers to the front line & the wounded back to safety.
Gift of gratitude to the Canadians
Lead by official Canadian Rangers, we explore the area surrounding Vimy Ridge, which has been granted to the Canadian people by the French, as a mark of thanks for the role the Canadian army played in defending the city of Arras.
Canadian Memorial
Taking students a round preserved trenches & tunnels and up to Hill 145, the highest point of the 14-kilometre long ridge, where the Canadian Memorial stands – created to honour the 11,285 Canadian soldiers whose remains were never found.
