Kingswood began almost 30 years ago, founded by the Wiley family. After spending the summer in the US and sending their children to summer camp, on their return to the UK they found there was nothing similar to entertain their children during the school holidays so founded our sister organisation, Camp Beaumont Summer Camps. When a teacher requested to attend camp during the school term time, our original centre in Staffordshire, in the village of Kingswood was founded, and the rest, as they say, is history!

From our beginnings delighting children at summer camp, we worked with leading educationalists pioneering ICT Action Adventure and computer courses to schools, fulfilling the educational requirements for teachers which would be difficult to deliver at school. This is our continuing ethos today. As signatories of the ‘Learning Outside The Classroom Manifesto’, we continue to assist teachers to get children out in the outdoors to centres of excellence, instilling self-confidence and a sense of achievement, through a positive experience which is educational, enjoyable, challenging and rewarding.

In July 2008, Kingswood also became part of Education Travel Group, the UK’s leading supplier of educational group tours, school ski courses and educationally rich UK activity centre breaks for schools. This brings a wealth of experience and further choice for teachers to experience other types of trips with a company that schools trust and know. Education Travel Group is a collection of specialist organisations who are experts in their field, supporting teachers to take their children outside the classroom to bring text books to life. Kingswood’s sister companies within the Group now include School Travel Service (STS), SkiPlan, Equity School Travel and STS Pavilion Tours.
