The buzz from the new Dukeshouse Wood centre has continued, even after its launch day. In the first week of guests, the centre has received exceptional comments from visiting schools. The majority have already booked to return again with another group next year. Read their comments below and see for yourself.
"Our KS2 trip to Dukeshouse Wood has been our best residential yet; all of the children (aged 7-11) and school staff had a fantastic time. The centre staff and activity instructors were very enthusiastic and made the visit an enjoyable experience for everyone. We enjoyed a wide range of challenging activities; the instructors were very knowledgeable and safety always came first. We all overcame a number of fears and developed in confidence and our ability to work as a team. My class haven’t stopped taking about the visit since returning to school and have a lot of happy memories; we will definitely be returning next year."

Dukeshouse Wood has re-opened in 2008 after a £2 million upgrade in phase 1 of the centre redevelopment. Dukeshouse has served the children of Gateshead and the North East since 1940 and is set in 18 acres of unspoilt countryside surrounded by trees and fields just outside Hexham in Northumberland.
For Key stage 2 schools we have introduced our new Discovery programme which consists of a choice of 12 themed modules designed to fire young imaginations and deliver stimulating learning within ICT, Science and Environmental Studies.
Our Key stage 3 & 4 programmes include popular courses such as Lifeskills, Transition & Motivation and an established favourite Adventure Choice. We will also be including our very popular 3+ Programme for Key stage 3 students in 2008.
Educational programmes are complimented by our full range of adventure programmes that includes elements such climbing, high ropes, zip wire, challenge course and laser quest.
The dormitories are either 4 or 10-bedded rooms, each having their own en-suite facilities and all teacher rooms are en-suite. These brand new facilities are complimented by 6 state of the art computer labs as well as environmental facilities.
